Cosmetics
Cosmetics is a Vancouver, BC-based duo, formed by Aja Emma and Nic Emm in 2008. Their music can be described as sultry, minimalist, and atmospheric, featuring seductive vocals backed by lush analog synths and sparse drum machines. Their self-produced synth pop combines influences such as minimal wave, Italo disco, early Suicide, and the subtle electronic psychedelia of Broadcast’s classic ‘Tender Buttons’ album.
The duo was signed to Captured Tracks in early 2010’s, releasing the memorable 7″ singles, “Soft Skin/Black Leather Gloves” and “Sleepwalking/The Cries.”
Cosmetics’ proper debut LP, ‘Baby’ and the Pillow Talk / Tell Me 7” will be released on Cititrax in October 2023.
